June is the Month of the Sacred Heart. The Church has kept this devotion for more than three centuries, particularly since Our Lord appeared to St. Margaret Mary Alacoque in Paray-le-Monial as a private revelation and revealed to her the inexhaustible love His Heart holds for every soul and called for a universal feast day. As we continue through this month of the Sacred Heart, even after the feast day on June 12, we are invited to draw deeper into the sacrificial love of His Sacred Heart.
The devotion that St. Margaret Mary received and carried forward asks the faithful to receive and respond to the love of Jesus Christ, which, as Cardinal Burke has taught, pours forth from "His glorious pierced Heart from which flow unceasingly the graces of salvation."
