Mother of the Unborn

The Memorial to the Unborn at the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe in La Crosse, Wisconsin is a sacred place of prayer, healing, and hope. Families have entrusted to Our Lady and her Divine Son earthly remains and the names of their beloved children who died before birth. Entombment, simple engraving, prayer services, and a digital wall are among the available memorial options.

The bronze statue entitled “Mother of the Unborn” is the central work of art in the Memorial. It depicts Our Lady of Guadalupe cradling three unborn children. The 3,000 pound statue sits atop a pedestal of Wisconsin limestone and is the work of artist Antonio Castellanos-Basich of Mexico.
